March

Easter Train March 30 Come join us for our fourth Easter Train! Ticket holders will get a train ride to the woods where we will disembark for the Easter egg hunt.

 

April

Solar Eclipse Caboose Rides April 6 Short caboose rides starting at 12:00 PM and running as needed until 5 PM.  Tickets will be $12 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.   Tickets for train rides at this event will ONLY be sold in person at the station, the day of the event. 

 

May

Lorain County Bicentennial Train May 11 Get a taste of rail travel like it was in 1950.  Dress in your best vintage attire and board the train at 1:30 PM 

 

June

Railroad Heritage Caboose Trains June 15 

The Saturday before Father's Day.  Short caboose rides starting at 12:00 PM and running as needed until 3:30 PM.  Tickets for train rides at this event will ONLY be sold in person at the station, the day of the event.  Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under

July

Wine on Rails July 26-27 

 Enjoy tasting a variety of wines from Matus Winery as we travel leisurely, through southern Lorain County on our scenic railroad.   The train ride goes approximately 4.5 miles north then returns to Wellington and lasts between 1 and 1 1/2 hours.  The train will leave our station at 7:00 P.M. on the 26 and 6 P.M. on the 27.  Must be 21 or over.

 

Bluegrass Train July 27 with The Bear Pickins Band

Join us for a good time and live music.  The train ride goes approximately 4.5 miles north then returns to Wellington and lasts between 1 and 1 1/2 hours.

October

Fall Foliage - Three weekends in October-5-6, 12-13, 19-20 

The perfect way to spend an hour or two on a Saturday or Sunday in October.    The train leaves our station at 1:30 P.M.  The train ride goes approximately 4.5 miles north then returns to Wellington and lasts between 1 and 1 1/2 hours.  Tickets are available at the station, on the days that we operate.

 

Bluegrass Train October 5 with The Bear Pickins Band

 Join us for a good time and live music.  The train ride goes approximately 4.5 miles north then returns to Wellington and lasts between 1 and 1 1/2 hours.

Pumpkin Train October 6,12 & 19

 Passengers will embark on a Journey deep into the woods of southern Lorain county, on their quest for the perfect pumpkin.  The train will leave at 3:30 P.M and travel 2-3 miles on October 6 and 12.  On the return trip, the train will stop at the L&WV pumpkin patch.  Passengers will disembark the train in the woods, and pick the pumpkin that they would like to take home with them.  The pumpkin price is included in the train ticket.  We will then get back on the train for the return trip to Wellington.  The entire trip is estimated to be between 1 and 1 1/2 hours long.​

Wine on Rails October 18 

Our popular summer wine train returns for the fall!  Enjoy tasting a variety of wines from Matus Winery as we travel leisurely, through southern Lorain County.   The train ride goes approximately 4.5 miles north then returns to Wellington and lasts between 1 and 1 1/2 hours.  The train will leave our station at 7:00 P.M.  Must be 21 or over.

​Sweetest Day Train October 19 

Similar to our popular "Wine on Rails" trains, but with a twist... chocolate!  Enjoy a variety of wines from Matus Winery and receive a sampling of chocolates.  Train ride goes approximately 4.5 miles north then returns to Wellington and lasts between 1 and 1 1/2 hours.  The train will leave our station at 6:00 P.M.   Must be 21 or over.

November & December

​Santa Train - November 30 and December 1,7,8,14, & 15

We're excited to have Santa visit us, again this year.  Visit our station and board our seasonally decorated train for a short ride and a chance to visit Santa.  Children under 12 receive a bell.  Ride lasts between 30 and 50 minutes and goes approximately 1.5 miles, then backs up

  • Tickets for events will go on sale 30-60 days before the event

  • All Trains run rain or shine

  • Please give yourself ample time to arrive as the train leaves at the stated time.  We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the train is scheduled to depart 

  • Please verify that you are purchasing the right ticket, for the right date and time, as we have a no refund policy

  • Tickets are only good for the date and time that is printed on the ticket

  • ALL passengers need a ticket regardless of age

  • ALL tickets must be picked up at the station office, printed tickets can not be used to board train

  • Due to the historical nature of our equipment, we are currently not handicap accessible 

  • If there are circumstances beyond our control that would cause us to cancel an event, we will try to give you as much notice as we can, and refund your money​​

If you have a group, event, or classroom that would like to book a special train, please contact us, and we'll see if we can accommodate you!  We offer special rates where you can rent the entire car for you birthday, wedding, or field trip.  Please keep in mind we are 100% staffed by volunteers, operate with vintage equipment, and at the moment, not handicap accessible, but we will make every attempt to make it happen for you!

Please keep in mind we are 100% staffed by volunteers and operate with vintage equipment.  If for reasons beyond our control we have to cancel an event, you will be refunded the cost of your ticket or will be able to exchange it for another time.

Use of the open car is based on our discretion.  Weather and staffing play a role in whether or not it is used.

 

In 2021, due to current rail conditions, all rides are a maximum of 5 miles, one way, (10 miles round-trip.)  The rides that are shorter, are stated so, on this schedule.  Some rides are based on time, and are so noted in the ride description.

Due to the vintage nature of our equipment and building, we are currently NOT handicap accessible.  We will, however make every effort possible to accommodate everyone.
